Green PTFE tape is a full-density, oxygen-safe thread seal tape engineered specifically for use in pure oxygen environments and high-pressure gas systems. Unlike standard white PTFE tape, the green variant undergoes a specialized manufacturing process that removes residual solvents used during extrusion - a critical safety requirement, as trace volatiles can react violently when exposed to pure oxygen.

 

The tape is pigmented green as an industry-standard color code, allowing installers and inspectors to instantly identify it as oxygen-compatible. This visual identification system prevents the dangerous mistake of using standard tape on oxygen lines, where even microscopic contamination could pose an explosion risk.

Key characteristics for oxygen service:

- Full maximum density (1.5 g/cm³) - thicker and heavier than standard tape, providing superior sealing with fewer wraps

- Solvent-free and degreased - no residual petroleum or volatiles that could combust in oxygen

- Pressure rated to 10,000 PSI - suitable for high-pressure oxygen cylinders and pipeline systems

- Temperature range from -268°C to +260°C - performs in cryogenic and elevated temperature oxygen systems

- Chemically inert - 100% virgin PTFE will not react with oxygen or any gas it contacts

- Non-flammable - the material itself will not support combustion

- Medical oxygen pipelines in hospitals and clinics

- Industrial oxygen distribution systems and cutting equipment

- Oxygen cylinder valves, regulators, and fittings

- Aerospace and laboratory high-purity oxygen systems

- Any threaded connection carrying pure oxygen or oxygen-enriched gas

 

Installation for oxygen service:

1. Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and oil-free - even fingerprint oil can be hazardous in oxygen systems

2. Starting from the second thread from the end, wrap clockwise with firm tension

3. Apply 3-4 full wraps for oxygen applications (more than standard water/gas lines)

4. Press tape into thread grooves with a clean, degreased thumb

5. Tighten the fitting by hand, then use a wrench for the final quarter turn

6. Always verify the system with an oxygen-compatible leak detector before pressurizing

 

Safety note: Only use green-coded, oxygen-certified PTFE tape on oxygen lines. Standard white, yellow, or pink tapes may contain residual solvents and must never be used in oxygen service. The green color is your visual confirmation that this tape has been through the solvent removal process.

 

Each roll is wound on a standard 56mm OD spool with 25mm inner diameter. MOQ is 20,000 pieces with delivery in 30-40 days. Custom lengths and packaging available upon request.
