Thread Tape for Water

Thread sealing tape is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film used to seal pipe threads. Its trade name is also called Teflon tape. Thread sealing tape has a lubricating effect that allows threads to seat and tighten deeper, helping to prevent threads from seizing when loosening. The tape also acts as a deformable filler and thread lubricant, helping to seal the joint without stiffening or making tightening more difficult, and making tightening easier. The tape is typically wrapped three times around pipe threads before being screwed into place and is commonly used commercially in applications such as pressurized water systems, central heating systems, and air compression equipment.

 

Thread tape for water is mainly used for water system connections, either potable or non-potable as they are corrosion and acid resistant. Applications, where the thread tape for water works best, are in high-pressure lines and used best with most chemicals.
