Description

High temp teflon thread tape is used in a variety of applications for sealing gas and liquid pipework and is available in various grades, differing in purity, thickness and width. Some grades of tape contain a large proportion of a material other than PTFE and may be lubricated with hydrocarbon based oils and greases. If these grades of tape come into contact with high pressure oxygen there is a chance that an ignition will occur with the risk of injury to the operator and damage to the equipment. Pure PTFE tape can be and is used for sealing components in oxygen service provided it is lubricant-free.

High Temperature PTFE Tape Compared to Other Tape Types

01/

Heat resistance and durability

High-temperature PTFE tapes, such as PTFE-coated glass cloth tape, are known for their excellent heat resistance and are ideal for extreme temperature applications. Unlike traditional tapes, PTFE tapes can withstand temperatures from -100°C to +260°C, making them suitable for a variety of environments. Whether in high-pressure steam systems, chemical processing plants or electrical insulation applications, PTFE tapes remain elastic and maintain their performance even at high temperatures.

High temperature PTFE tape offers superior durability compared to other types of tape. It is very resistant to wear and tear, ensuring its longevity and performance in demanding conditions. The non-reactive nature of the tape prevents degradation by corrosive chemicals, increasing its longevity and reliability compared to standard tapes that may deteriorate in such environments.

02/

Universal chemical compatibility

Another distinguishing feature of high-temperature PTFE tape is its universal chemical compatibility. Unlike many other tapes that can deteriorate or dissolve when exposed to certain chemicals or solvents, PTFE tape is highly resistant to chemical reactivity.

PTFE tape is chemically inert and resistant to acids, bases and various solvents, maintaining its superior performance even when used in corrosive environments. This makes high-temperature PTFE tapes a valuable asset for industries such as chemical processing, oil and gas, food processing and pharmaceuticals, which are often exposed to corrosive substances.

When comparing high-temperature PTFE tape to other types of tape, its superior performance and advantages are clear. Its excellent heat resistance, durability and universal chemical compatibility make it an excellent choice for many applications. Whether in extreme temperature environments or corrosive environments, high-temperature PTFE tapes are unaffected and maintain performance.
