Wide PTFE Tape

The size of the threads determines width of PTFE tape.

1/4″ wide ptfe tape is good for 1/8″ through 1/4″ threads.

1/2″ wide ptfe tape is good for 3/8″ through 1-1/4″ threads.

3/4″ wide ptfe tape is good for 3/4″ through 2″ threads.

1″ wide ptfe tape is good for 3″ through 4″ threads.

For thread sealing 1-3 wraps is recommended

 

 

Wide ptfe tape is just a little wide compare to common ptfe tape. The common ptfe tape is 12mm, but wide ptfe tape can make it 19mm or 25mm, it can be used in larger pipe fittings. PTFE is an master in chemistry and physics, caused PTFE to be used as a sealing material widely used in industrial applications, civil-construction, machinery, chemicals, and space navigation especially in drainage systems, and are characteristics of thread sealing, insulation, corrosion resistance anti-aging, using in oxidizing agent for a long term.

Customer: How to Choose the color of Teflon tape made for the type of pipe you're sealing?

Foreverseal: If you're sealing standard water lines, then pick the general-use white tape or pink plumber's tape for the job. If you're working on a gas line, stick with yellow Teflon tape since it's thicker and creates a better seal. If you're working on an oxygen line, then stick with green tape since it's grease-free.
